Our work is currently focused on investigating mechanisms of synaptic integration in neurons in the basal ganglia and the cerebellum, using electrophysiological and computer modeling approaches. We are in particular interested in how active processing in individual neurons shapes their response function in the network. In the basal ganglia, we are also in the process of studying the mechanisms of Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), a novel therapy for Parkinson's disease and potentially other disorders.
