Research interests : Organisms have encountered a diverse array of light environments, ranging from the darkness in the deep sea to bright light in the desert, and have responded with an equally diverse array of vision systems. To elucidate the molecular genetics and evolution of color vision in various species, we use methods of molecular/cell biology, protein chemistry, psychophysics, and molecular evolution.
