The Undergraduate Research Scholars Program
The URS program of the Georgia Tech/Emory Center for the Engineering of Living Tissue (GTEC) offers research opportunities for undergraduates. The program is open to juniors and seniors majoring in engineering or science disciplines with an interest in bioengineering and bioscience. The program allow you to earn:
- Academic (Biology 499) credit, Spring semester
- $3500 for summer and $1500 for fall semester
- Valuable research experience in a major tissue engineering facility
Tissue Engineering Research areas include:
- Cardiovascular substitutes such as blood vessels and heart valves
- Orthopaedic applications such as bone and cartilage development
- Encapsulated cell therapies such as a bioartificial pancreas
The program Highlights include:
- 3 semesters experience in a Ga Tech/Emory University laboratory starting Spring 2000
- Research projects directed by University faculty or graduate students
- Multidisciplinary seminar series.
- Potential for co-authorship of a publication
- Interactions with bioengineering an bioscience industries.
