TOOLS AND STRATEGIES FOR TEACHING UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE BIOLOGY
As
science educators it is our responsibility to stimulate, engage and inspire future generations of scientists. But how do
we do that? During the SE SDB Educational Workshop we will
hear from the following speakers about teaching methods, curricular design, and research experiences designed to achieve this at the undergraduate and graduate level:
William Wood, Ph.D. (Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology, University of Colorado)
Cynthia Bauerle, Ph.D. (Biology, Spelman College)
Karama Neal, Ph.D. (FACES Program, Emory University)
Kyle Frantz, Ph.D. (Biology, Georgia State University)
We hope to identify teaching strategies that have worked -
and not worked. We want to identify the best methods that will raise student retention in Science Courses and keep students excited by, and
interested in, pursuing the study of science throughout
their education.
Session Organizers:
Robert DeHaan (Senior Advisor Division of Education Studies, Emory University)
Rachelle Spell, Ph.D. (Biology, Emory University)
