The BIOLOGY DEPARTMENT OF EMORY UNIVERSITY in Atlanta, GA is a broadly based biology department within Emory’s College of Arts and Sciences. We seek candidates for a tenure-track position at any rank in the area of ecology. The successful candidate will use empirical approaches to test fundamental ecological theory. We are particularly interested in complementing existing strengths through hiring of a faculty member whose research focuses on population, community, evolutionary, or behavioral ecology, and who can teach both lecture- and field-based ecology courses. Successful applicants will have a PhD, post-doctoral research experience, a record of productivity, and a commitment to evidence-based undergraduate teaching and mentoring. Competitive nine-month salary will be determined based on the quality of application materials and the current salary distribution within the biology department.

The Department of Biology is highly collegial and collaborative, and Emory's campus offers a collaborative and well-resourced research environment in a compact footprint. The Emory population biology, ecology and evolution community includes labs across Emory College, the School of Medicine, and the Rollins School of Public Health. The Department of Biology at Emory University invites applications for a full-time, teaching-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor starting in the Fall of 2027 semester.

We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in the biological sciences with a strong commitment to pedagogy and a specific interest in teaching and advising undergraduates. In unusual and exceptional circumstances, those with a terminal degree in other STEM related fields will be considered. The Devineni Lab is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to perform studies in fruit flies (Drosophila) investigating how neural circuits in the brain process sensory information. Projects may include studying the organization and function of taste circuits, analysis and modeling of feeding decisions, and/or studying how reward pathways influence feeding. Candidates should have completed or be nearing completion of a PhD in a STEM field and have some background in neuroscience or biology. The ideal candidate will have experience with behavioral analysis, in vivo imaging, analyzing large datasets, working with Drosophila, and/or programming (ideally in MATLAB or Python). Minimum Qualifications:

A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional qualifications as specified by the principal investigator.

A 2-3 year post-doctoral position is immediately available in the lab of Dr. Yana Bromberg, in the departments of Biology and Computer Science, Emory University, Atlanta. The Bromberg lab is purely computational, studying molecular functionality at all protein-enabled scales. We are seeking a highly motivated scholar to continue training in an exciting research laboratory with a focus on exploring molecular functionality encoded in genome data. Specifically for this project, we will explore the contribution of protein language models (PLMs) to our understanding of the biological molecular mechanisms, exposing fundamental properties and organization of the PLM-learned representation space. We will develop/optimize PLMs to provide deeper insight, understanding, and discovery of the structural, functional, and evolutionary organization across protein space. This work will be carried out in collaboration with Dr. Amarda Shehu’s lab at George Mason University and Dr. Burkhard Rost’s lab at the Technical University of Munich.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or related fields. Candidates with non-bioinformatics degrees but possessing the necessary computational skill sets are welcome to apply. Programming skills are required, as well as experience with machine learning, and some familiarity with the major bioinformatics tools/databases. Experience with high performance computing and protein function and/or structure analysis is highly desired but not required.

Candidates should be fluent in spoken and written English and should be able to communicate their ideas well. The ability to integrate into a team is as essential as that to complete a project without constant supervision.
