Awards, Fellowships & Grants

NBB Research Fellowship Awards

We are happy to announce that we can make a few fellowship awards with stipends of up to $2500 for the fall 2022 semester available for undergraduate students participating in Biology and NBB research courses. The fellowships are awarded based on research plans and financial need, and they are intended to alleviate the need for gainful employment outside of the research course.  Preference will be given to students in the honors program (e.g., BIOL495), though students in other research courses (e.g., BIOL499R) may also apply.

Applications are due on August 15 using the online form located here:  https://forms.gle/fbuvtRUXzkEUy639A. Awards will be announced before the beginning of the fall 2022 semester in time to register for courses during add/drop/swap.

The application is brief, but you will need:

  1. Your contact info
  2. Your research mentor’s contact info
  3. Three brief statements that:
    1. Summarize your past research experiences
    2. How participating in undergraduate research connects to your personal and professional goals
    3. How will this stipend support your participation in neuroscience research

*While the application is open to any undergraduate doing biology or neuroscience research with financial need, we are particularly enthusiastic about supporting students who have limited resources/options for other support, such as  undocumented students or students from families of mixed immigration status.*

Conference & Travel Grants

Each year Undergraduate Research Programs provides support for undergraduates who are presenting their research at professional conferences in their field. The decision to fund students is based on the quality of student proposals, overall academic records, and recommendations from faculty mentors. Conference funding proposals will be reviewed on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted.
